My other primary source is a chain necklace with a Jewish star hanging from it. The necklace was a present for my bar-mitzvah and I subsequently purchased the Jewish star to hang from it. The Jewish star is a reflection of my Jewish identity and I wear it proudly to display my Jewish roots. It connects my to a 6000 year legacy of people who ceaselessly overcome the odds.

Aaron, both the shoes and the necklace are interesting objects. Yet they may be too individual to sustain an analysis for the REA. You'll need an object on which you can perform the kind of close-reading that you applied to the ad for your visual text (thus, you performed an analysis of the ad rather than the RAV4 itself).
Look for cultural texts that allow you to expand and explore these objects in a more text-y way. For example, you might locate a coffee-table book of Jewish iconography. Or you might look a commercial selling the shoes.
